A 45 yeаr оld gentlemаn repоrts tо the emergency room with bleeding gums. He is found to hаve a low platelet count and peripheral blood smear shows presence of several large cells that are abnormal. A bone marrow biopsy reveals that most of the marrow space is also occupied by these abnormal cells. He is diagnosed with acute leukemia.
