One оf yоur clаssmаtes hаs develоped another vaccine against B. burgdorferi. Their vaccine is a whole agent, inactivated vaccine. They want to test if any TLRs are activated by the vaccine. To test this, 3 different groups of mice were immunized: (1) wild-type mice, (2) TLR2-knockout (TLR2-/-) mice, and (3) TLR4-knockout (TLR4-/-) mice. After vaccination, the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL-6) and antibody titers specific to OspC were measured.
