Yоu hаve been hired аs аn intern at an AI start-up that designs memоry aids fоr the chronically-stressed college student. The company claims to use data from brain scans and cognitive tests to train their model. Use your knowledge of how memory could be tested and how neural activity changes in under conditions of stress i) identify a brain region that should be used for training the model; ii) explain at least two (2) key changes in that brain region that you would expect to observe in scans of stressed individuals, compared to the non-stressed individual; and iii) describe an experiment that could be conducted to test if the AI-designed memory aids are working as intended. For this experiment be sure to state the experimental and control conditions and how you would measure the neural component. Your internship project is to investigate if the new memory aid is effective at increasing working memory. Your data are a little noisy, and you discover that the demographic data reveal that those who did not benefit from the memory aid reported a poorer quality and amount of sleep. iv) Identify how disrupted sleep can interfere with memory, and v) explain how the brain region identified in part A is affected to contribute to these findings.
