Answer the questiоn аbоut the pаrаgraph belоw: what is the topic? Although often used interchangeably, there is a distinction between the terms complementary and alternative. Complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine, as part of an integrative medical approach. An aromatherapist might work with an oncologist to reduce a patient's nausea during chemotherapy, for example. Alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine. An example of this would be using a special diet or herbal remedy to treat cancer instead of using radiation, surgery, or other conventional treatments. --Adapted from Donatelle, Access to Health, 10th ed., Pearson Education, Inc., 2008, pp. 672-673.
