10.(20 pоints) In the US, we hаve оver 15 milliоn cаses of Covid-19, аbout 300,000 lives lost in December 2020, just two years ago, and many more since then. In this severe Covid-19 environment, the economy and the labor market was in its worst situation since the Great Depression. Double digit unemployment rate was most likely higher because of under reporting, a record high of 20.5 million jobs lost only in the month of April 2020 (14.70 %) wiping out all job gains since the Great Recession of 2007-2008. Millions of Americans are falling into poverty rate. Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, and minority groups, were the hardest hit and disproportionately affected by Covid-19. The infection and death rates have been the highest for the African Americans. In the context that there has been racial discrimination in our economy, discuss the basic evidence on the progress or lack of progress of Black Americans or Hispanics or Native Americans, (pick one minority group) with regards to: (i) earnings gap ratio over time, (ii)LFPR, (iii) unemployment rate, (iv)income/wealth inequality, and (v) incidence of poverty. Then critically analyze by integrating these data and information to explain why Covid-19 has a disproportionate toll on communities of color. Illustrate your answer by giving examples of some public policies in reducing racial discrimination and its effectiveness in reducing racial discrimination in past years. (I am looking for an integrative, and a comprehensive answer. I expect you to apply knowledge gained over the semester using data/evidence to support your answer. I am looking for thorough analysis as well as synthesis of this situation. It’s NOT a short answer but a long essay about two pages)
