On а smаll cоllectiоn оf islаnds off the coast of England, there is a grass-dominated habitat. In order to grow, these grasses require high levels of nitrogen (N) and phosphorous (P) in the soil and when there is high soil N and P, they grow aggressively. The island is also home to a low population size of slow-growing shrubs, which require lower amounts of N and P in the soil compared to the grasses. N and P are required by all plants to grow and live. The majority of the soil N and P is provided through the bird droppings (rich in N and P) of native Sandpipers. Weasels were introduced to some of the islands at the end of the 19th century, while other islands were left weasel-free.  Weasels are predators that are not native to the islands, but do prey on Sandpipers when present.  A graduate student interested in community ecology is investigating the effects of introducing a non-native top predator on the community dynamics of these islands.  Consider the interactions of the organisms described above. Which of the following graphs best represents the soil levels of N and P on islands with and without weasels?
