A long, straight wire carries a current of I 1 = 10 . 0   A . If next to the wire is a square loop with sides 4 . 00   c m in length as shown in Fig. 2.1, (a) what is the magnetic flux through the loop? If the loop carries a current of I 2 = 3 . 00   A in the direction indicated in Fig. 2.1, (b) what are the magnitudes and directions of the magnetic forces exerted on each side of the loop? (c) What are the magnitude and direction of the net magnetic force on the loop? If the square loop is moving to the right with a speed 12 . 0   m s at that moment, (d) what is the magnitude of the induced electromotive force in the loop? If the square loop in Fig. 2.1 is replaced by a circular loop of diameter 4 . 00   c m as shown in Fig. 2.2, (e) what is the direction and the value of the current in the loop so that the magnetic field at the center of the loop is exactly zero? fig_q18_final.jpg                                                                 Fig. 2.1                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Fig. 2.2

Dear all: Final will be given on 5/8/2024 (Wednesday). It will cover all chapters discussed in this semester. Here are a few things for the tests:• Final will be offered from 11:59 pm of 5/7/2024 to 11:59 pm of 5/8/2024. You have 170 minutes to complete the Final once you start the test.• You need to enable respondus lockdown browser and respondus monitor to take the tests.• Please do the following to take the tests:(1) Log into Blackboard with your STC credentials.(2) Scroll down to “Final” and click on “Final”. (You need to enable Respondus Lockdown Browser and Respondus Monitor to take the tests.)(3) You have 170 minutes to take Final.(4) Final will cover all chapters discussed in the semester.(5) You can use calculators and the formula sheets provided by me during the test but it is a closed book test. You should print the formula sheets out and bring it to the tests.(6) For multiple choice questions, you only need to select the correct answers. For free-response questions, you need to show the procedures to obtain your answers. You input the procedures through the boxes below the questions. For free response questions, it would not get full credit for solutions that only have answers but not procedures to obtain the answers. For free-response questions (Questions 17, 18, 19, and 20 in Final), please make sure to show the procedures to obtain your answers through the boxes below the questions and not to email your answers to my jagnet email.(7) After you complete the tests or before the test times are up, you make sure to submit your tests. The above regulations are just for protecting honest students. Being honest is our best help to make the whole class to be fair and consistent to everyone. Hope this is understandable. Have a safe, pleasant, and successful semester.Regards,Dr. Xu
