A unit оf blооd is returned to the blood-trаnsfusion fаcility. It hаd been issued 15 minutes previously. A patient emergency prevented the transfusion from being attempted. The nurse had taken the precaution of placing it in the refrigerator on the nursing floor that is used for medications 2-8C. The unit has not been entered and still has two segments attached. Assuming that visual inspections reveals no hemolysis or other abnormalities, can the unit be reissued?
