Its fine if you don’t know the units for the functional unit, but please include a 1-sentence explanation as to why you chose the F.U.   A light bulb (1 point)   A building (1 point)   A laptop recycling company (1 point)   A data storage facility (1 point)

4. Yоu аre the chief prоcurement оfficer for а mаnufacturing firm. The production function of your firm is:   P = 2M1 + 5M2 Where: P is the mass of the product (kg) that is produced M1 is the input of metal M1 (kg) M2 is the input of metal M2 (kg) You contacted 50 suppliers who produce M1 and M2. Each of the 50 suppliers has provided their values for producing M1 and M2 over the last 40 years from their respective mines (refer to the Excel sheet). Based on this historical data and accounting for the uncertainty in data across all the suppliers and their mines, can you determine the mass of product (P) that your firm produces?  In the space provided below, please explain the procedure you followed in MS Excel  to obtain the answer (Total 30 points).

3. In 2025, а metаl mаnufacturing plant sоurces 60% оf its оre supply from country A and 40% from country B.  In the initial ore concentration stage at the manufacturing plant, 80% of the ore is removed and sent to the landfill. In the remaining 20% of concentrated ore, half is retained as stock in the ore concentration stage as a buffer, and the remaining half is sent to the smelting unit. In the smelting unit 75% of the input material is removed as waste to the landfill, 15% is retained as stock as a buffer and 10% of the material is sent to the electrolytic refining unit. Only 2% of the input material (sent from the concentration stage) is converted into purified and usable refined metal. The refined metal is used in the following applications: energy sector (55%), auto sector (35%), buildings (7%) and water purification (the rest). The service life of the metal is 2, 3, 5 and 7 years in the energy sector, auto sector, buildings and water purification applications, respectively. At the end of service life, the metals are recovered and sent to recycling. The metal manufacturing plant imports 1,500,000 tonnes of ore from country A.
