Fоllоwing аre five (5) essаy questiоns. Pleаse choose three (3) questions to answer (each for 10 points, for exceptional answers I may give 11). Each may be answered in either bullet points or sentence form, whichever is more appropriate. In addition, be sure to develop your thoughts as necessary; I will be grading you on the accuracy and comprehensiveness of your answer. If you have an opportunity to have an opinion or take a stand on something, I prefer you to take a stand and defend your stance rather than playing the middle ground. You MUST provide answers based on the theory, concepts, and terminology we have discussed in class. Some questions will allow you considerable freedom in your response, but these responses must be accurate based on the information from class. In other words, don’t just B.S. or make stuff up. Read the questions very carefully and be sure to answer ALL portions of the question. At the beginning of each response, put the number of the prompt you are answering (for example: 2. 'your response to essay 2') Pick 3 of the following 5 questions to answer:   1) Imagine you are the supervisor of a frozen foods manufacturing plant. It has come to your attention that the job satisfaction of your employees overall is rather low and that there have been quite a few reported incidents of counter-productive work behaviors. Integrating the five models of job satisfaction and the Theory of Planned Behavior, discuss why employees may be dissatisfied and why CWBs may be on the rise at the plant.   2) Big 5 Personality traits. For each trait, describe the characteristics of a person who is either high or low on that trait (note your choice of high or low and the personality trait). Then, using the description you gave for each trait, describe a job where that person would either excel or fail (note your choice of excel or fail). Be specific about both the nature of the job and why they would excel or fail. Use the following format:   HIGH / LOW (Personality trait) _________________________ Description: EXCEL / FAIL (Job to be described) _________________________ Why?: HIGH / LOW (Personality trait)_________________________ Description: EXCEL / FAIL (Job to be described) _________________________ Why?: HIGH / LOW (Personality trait) _________________________ Description: EXCEL / FAIL (Job to be described) _________________________ Why?: HIGH / LOW (Personality trait) _________________________ Description: EXCEL / FAIL (Job to be described) _________________________ Why?: HIGH / LOW (Personality trait) _________________________ Description: EXCEL / FAIL (Job to be described) _________________________ Why?:   3) Using your knowledge of the Theory of Planned Behavior, Affective Events Theory, your general knowledge of workplace processes and outcomes, and your knowledge of emotions, discuss why understanding emotions is relevant in the workplace (consider the role of emotions in workplace outcomes). Additionally, discuss the benefits and drawbacks of grouping emotions (where emotions are talked about as bundles of emotions as opposed to specific, discrete emotions), when grouping may be relevant and when it may not, and why you believe either grouping or not grouping emotions it typically more appropriate in a workplace context.   4) Why do a person’s values matter in the workplace? Consider the full spectrum of implications (i.e. for that person, for their coworkers, for the organization) and through what mechanisms values result in implications. It may be helpful to integrate one or more theories we have discussed.    5) Attitudes have been called “social psychology’s most distinctive and indispensable construct.” Indeed, the study of attitudes has a long tradition in psychology and management research. Define “attitudes” and list (and describe) the three different components of attitudes. Discuss how attitudes play a role in subsequent behavior (think theory). Then, describe the Theory of Cognitive Dissonance and give an example of a time that you have felt Cognitive Dissonance. How were you able to alleviate this dissonance? In the below space, type the number of the essay you are answering and your response. You may copy and paste the question here if you would like to reduce scrolling.
