Mr. Hendersоn brings his recently аdоpted dоg, Bubbа, to your clinic for his first wellness exаmination. Bubba is a 5-year-old intact male Bloodhound that was adopted from a shelter in Alabama approximately 4 months ago. Mr. Henderson recently relocated to Nevada with Bubba and is unaware of the dog's previous medical history before the shelter where he recalls seeing vaccines and deworming listed on his adoption paperwork. Since bringing Bubba home, Mr. Henderson has noticed that he seems friendly and is adjusting well to his new environment. However, Bubba tires very quickly during exercise. He is only able to jog a few blocks before stopping to rest and has developed an occasional cough, which Mr. Henderson initially attributed to the dry desert climate. Over the past two weeks, Bubba has also experienced intermittent nosebleeds from his right nostril. Mr. Henderson reports that the bleeding became noticeably worse after Bubba encountered a porcupine several days ago. Although the quills were removed without complication, the nosebleeds have continued. In addition, Bubba has seemed increasingly lethargic over the past week. Mr. Henderson recalls removing an attached brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) from Bubba approximately eight weeks ago, before adopting him. He is unsure whether Bubba has ever received heartworm prevention.
