He reaches in his pocket for his wallet to retrieve his driver’s license and as he does so, several tin foil packets fall out unto the ground. They contain a white powder and subsequent tests show it to be cocaine. The man’s attorney files a motion to suppress stating that the original encounter was illegal. Was it?
