The first militаry аctiоn оf the Americаn Revоlution occurred on April 19, 1775 in skirmishes at [BLANK-1]. Here, the Massachusetts colonial militia (the Minutemen) attempted to stop British regulars from confiscating arms and ammunition at a nearby armory. The Minutemen had been warned of the British troop movements the night before by Paul Revere and other midnight riders. The two armed forces fired upon one another and engaged in sporadic action throughout the morning. The Minutemen eventually forced the British regulars to withdraw, thus saving the armory. This event, known as “The Shot Heard ‘Round the World” marked the beginning of the American Revolution.
