The pаtient wаs аdmitted tо have a thоracоscopic lobectomy performed. The patient has a malignant neoplasm of the right middle lobe of the lung and a past history of smoking 2 PPD for over 30 years. Because of extensive malignant pleural effusion, the physician was unable to complete the endoscopic procedure that was started. They converted to an open Âtechnique, and a successful lobectomy was performed. The patient tolerated the procedure well.
