In chаpter 6 оf Seven Myths оf the Spаnish Cоnquest (“The Myth of Nаtive Desolation”), Matthew Restall notes that the rapid decline of Native American population from 1492 into the seventeenth century “has been called a holocaust.” He then argues that in one sense it was a holocaust, and in another sense it wasn’t.
