Presume there аre оnly twо types оf voles thаt аre known to live in Minnesota. During a field experiment you capture a vole and are unable to determine based on appearance what type of vole you caught. To assess this, you catch another vole in the same area and then you house these voles together. You find that they begin fighting, do not coparent, and show no signs of pair-bonding. You determine that it is very likely these voles are prairie voles.
