This is а by-hаnd hypоthesis test.  Yоu'll need tо mаrk this problem as number 3 on your work sheet and show the work indicated below. Situation:  An online retailer has had a consistent mean purchase price of $36 for people shopping online. They wanted to try a new pricing structure to promote buying packages of multiple items.  Before launching this new structure for everyone, they tested it on a randomly selected sample of 45 shoppers.  For the people in the sample, the mean purchase amount was $49 with a standard deviation of $15.  Complete the steps below to perform a hypothesis test at the 1% significance level to see if there is enough evidence to conclude the new pricing structure will result in a higher population mean purchase amount.  a) Write the hypotheses (you can skip that part on the online test, but on your work sheet write the hypotheses symbolically using correct notation) b) Show the work in calculating the test statistic on your work sheet.  Include the formula used and values you plugged in.  Give the answer truncated at the third decimal digit as I did in my examples.  On the online test, just indicate what the value of the test statistic is (be sure to identify it as a Z or a t value) c) Use a theoretical distribution on stat key to get the p-value.  Just note the p-value online, but include a supporting sketch on your work sheet. d) Write your conclusion online, in context.

A grоup оf stаtistics students hаd tо do а project where they performed a hypothesis test on data they collect.  The students did a study on residential students at their college.  Their claim to test for was the population proportion of female students who smoked is different than the population proportion of male students who smoke.  Their professor helped them get a random sample and the results were:  out of 140 female students selected there were 34 smokers and for males it was 25 smokers out of 120 male students sampled.  Perform the appropriate hypothesis test on stat key by answering these questions below. a) Write your hypotheses - on this online test you can write them as a sentence. On your work paper, number this problem 2 and show the hypotheses with correct notation, symbolically. b) have stat key generate a randomization dotplot and get the p-value from it.  On this online test, just indicate the p-value.  On your work paper, make a sketch of the stat key display to support your answer.  c) Type in your conclusion on this online test.  You don't need to write anything for this part on your work paper.
