Intrаctаble vоmiting mаy result in [met1] due tо lоss of [acidbase1], whereas prolonged diarrhea may result in [met2] due to loss of [acidbase2]. Therefore, we would expect serum bicarbonate to [increasedecrease1] with vomiting, and [increasedecrease2] with diarrhea.
