[¶ B] As sооn аs Chef Pаul Liverpоol, professor аt the ICC Culinary Academy, heard of the Bombe Tarts from PruBerrys, something sounded very familiar. Professor Liverpool taught students how to make baked Alaska, a cake with ice cream and topped with browned meringue. The recipe for PruBerrys Bombe Tarts also reminded Mary Leith, chief baker at Trefzgers, of their shortbread thumbprint cookies. PruBerrys Chocolate Bombe Tart was also very similar to Chef Garcon’s “Tarte bombée au chocolat.” [¶ C] Jealousy and rivalry came to the surface as all three chefs participated in the Great Holiday Bake Off held at the Paradice in East Peoria, a fundraiser for the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Fund.
